Buchu Tea is a wonderfully fragrant and fruity herbal tea. Carefully selected for their antiseptic and soothing properties, this comforting blend of herbs traditionally provides relief for burning and discomfort during urination. Buchu leaf has a delightful blackcurrant aroma and flavour, making it delicious served both hot and cold.

How to make buchu tea?

  1. Use 1 teaspoon of our herbal blend per cup of boiling water.

  2. Allow to brew for a minimum of 3-5 minutes before drinking. Can be left to infuse for longer.

  3. We recommend to consume a maximum of 2 litres per day.

The dosage depends on you and your conditions. For preventative measures you can enjoy this blend as a normal tea. For acute conditions, meaning you for example have a UTI, we recommend to consume between 1-2 litres of this blend per day, following the normal preparation instructions above.

What is buchu tea?

The plant as we know it and use it in herbal teas, is harvested from three different species of Agathosma Betulina – a plant native to South Africa.

It’s natural taste can be described as pleasantly spicy. However, some people describe the taste of buchu as being similar to black currant, as well as a combination of peppermint and rosemary.

What are the health benefits of buchu tea?

There is a number of studies on the buchu health benefits, ranging from flatulence to urinary infections. The plant’s leaves is where the medicinal properties reside, which is the part of the plant that can also be found in our herbal blend.

The plant has been used as a traditional way of healing for centuries. Known as the ‘elixir of youth’, it was consumed through chewing the leaves as well as mixing it with other properties. Today, it is mainly consumed as a tea and is recognised for its anti-inflammatory properties, which is why pharmacists often recommend it to treat urinary infections.
