An interesting fact we’ve learnt since opening our organic shop has been how things from overseas are arrived into Australia without being nuked with chemicals. As far as coconut goes, the difference between the organic products and the non-organic ones, is that they use a large array of chemicals to get things through customs. Mostly its Methyl Bromide – a known toxin – also toxic to the ozone as well as us! All certified organic coconut products are frozen for 2 weeks on arrival into the country to allow them into Australia. This allows us to have them without chemicals and pesticides and still get them into Australia!
